When art and nature meet, they sometimes give birth to unique artworks carrying intense and profound meanings. A clear example of this is BABYLION, the 2020 sculpture welcoming our guests with its 8-metres height and 6-metres diameter, entirely realised with logs from the trees felled by windstorm “VAIA” on the Trentino mountainside in 2018.
This piece of art is a game of imagination, as it draws inspiration from the Biblical myth of the Tower of Babel. The intention of the artist behind the sculpture is to remind us all not to challenge nature and its course, but instead to respect and cherish it by living in harmony with the environment; such is the goal behind our Eco Village Resort.
Many people from all over the world can find hospitality at our tourist resort, all of whom speak different languages. While these languages ultimately result from the divine condemnation of humankind’s arrogance in the Tower’s myth, they are indeed a blessing, as they push all human beings to explore the world, experience it while finding harmony with all the other species that inhabit it. Their richness in diversity is a priceless cultural heritage for all humanity.
This piece of artwork – which symbolically represents the Biblical myth, is mainly a wish for humankind to turn the arrogance depicted in the Book of Genesis into friendship and cooperation between all people.
